Eaton scratched with left ankle bone bruise

The Nationals announced about 75 minutes before first pitch that left fielder Adam Eaton has been scratched due to a left ankle bone bruise. Brian Goodwin has been placed in the lineup as the leadoff man and will play left field.

Catcher Jhonatan Solano was placed on the 10-day disabled list with bone chips in his right elbow. The move was retroactive to April 7. Catcher Miguel Montero was reinstated from paternity leave.

Manager Davey Martinez had limited details as to how Solano got hurt.

"I couldn't tell you," Martinez said. "I knew he was throwing with (bullpen coach) Henry (Blanco). After that he said his elbow started hurting. He might have had it before and then all of sudden. But he's hurting."

victor robles getty image 0910.jpgTriple-A Syracuse Chiefs center fielder Victor Robles appeared to injure his left arm during an awkward dive for a fly ball in shallow center field last night in Rochester. He walked off the field in obvious pain and is expected to be evaluated by Nationals team doctors today. General manager Mike Rizzo did not have any updates yet on Robles during batting practice. Earlier, Martinez also did not have information on Robles yet.

"I am not the one to ask," said Martinez. "I know he got hurt really bad but I don't know the status."

Martinez said the video was tough to watch: "I looked real quick and then turned my head. It wasn't good."

Matt Wieters (mild left oblique strain) is catching and batting third for the high Single-A Potomac Nationals tonight in Woodbridge, Va.

"I think he's catching tonight," Martinez said. "We pretty much left it up to how he feels, how he gets loose. I asked him if he was excited, he just smiled. He asked me to look up his numbers in the Carolina League, so I'm going to look it up."

Catching tonight is Pedro Severino who continues to get rave reviews from the pitchers and Martinez himself.

"Severino is doing great, he really is," the Nats skipper added. "I love what I see from him. He's OK catching Stras. The pitchers like throwing to him. I want him to continue to do good. He's going to be in there. He's going to play. I like what I see. I know he was in there with Stras earlier today and they were talking about strategy and game plan. That's good to see."
