MILWAUKEE - Surprising a bit to realize that tonight the Nationals will play in their 100th game of the season, and with a win they would get back to .500 at 50-50.
One of their more pleasant surprises this season has been the pitching by starter Jeremy Hellickson (4-1, 3.29 ERA). His consistency has been a key component for the Nats as they attempt to get all of their starters back in sync. Hellickson has allowed only one earned run in his last two starts, a span of 11 innings. Opposing batters are hitting only .111 (4-for-36) against him during that time.
The Brewers counter with right-hander Junior Guerra (6-6, 3.23)., who is returning from the disabled list, where he's been since July 14 (right forearm tightness). At Pittsburgh July 13, he allowed a career-high nine hits in four innings. The Pirates plated six runs against him in what turned into a 7-3 defeat.
Shortstop Trea Turner has been benched for tonight's game. Wilmer Difo gets the call at shortstop.
Bryce Harper, originally slated to play center field, has been scratched. Michael A. Taylor will play there and will bat sixth.
