Game 110 lineups: Nats vs. Reds

The Nationals have surprisingly been inconsistent this season but one newcomer that has been a pleasant addition to the organization is starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson.

Thumbnail image for Jeremy Hellickson red white blue uniform.jpgThe veteran right-hander has gone 4-2 with a 3.59 ERA for the Nats in 15 starts. He has allowed three earned runs or less in 13 of his 14 starts. Hellickson gets the nod in game two of the doubleheader. The Nats are looking for a split of the two games, after falling in game one 7-1.

Martinez was asked earlier today how Hellickson has changed since his time with him while with the Rays.

"Obviously he has matured as a major league pitcher," said Nationals manager Davey Martinez. "He pitches smarter. He doesn't give in. He sticks to the plan. He's been really good. He's had a really good career, he really has. Nobody really talks about him but he keeps his team in ball games. He keeps our team in ball games and that's all you can expect and want from your starting pitcher."

The Reds will go with right-hander Matt Harvey (5-6, 5.13 ERA) as their game two starter. Harvey went 3-6 in 16 games against the Nats while with the Mets. He has a 4.28 ERA versus Washington.
