With their losing streak at seven games, the Nationals will send left-hander Josh Rogers to the mound against the Mets in the nightcap of today's doubleheader. Gametime is scheduled for 6:55 p.m. after the extra-inning loss in the opener, and "Nats Xtra" pregame will air at 6:30 p.m. on MASN.
Rogers was 7-3 2ith a 3.70 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) for Triple-A Rochester. He was signed to a minor league contract by the Nats on June 4, three days after he was released by the Orioles. The southpaw hasn't appeared in the majors since June 25, 2019, and has a lifetime 1-3 record with an 8.65 ERA in eight games, including three starts.
The Nats will pair Rogers with catcher Riley Adams. Andrew Stevenson, who hit the tying two-run homer in the seventh inning of the opener as the Nats rallied from a 9-0 deficit, starts in left field. Carter Kieboom will hit fifth.
The only Met with any history against Rogers is Kevin Pillar, who is 1-for-3 off him.
Righty Tylor Megill (2-3, 4.04 ERA) starts for the Mets. He checked the Nats on one hit and two runs in a 9-4 win Sunday at Citi Field.
