Despite all the rain, and rain in forecast all day today, the Nationals came out of Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over the Chicago Cubs: 10-3 and 6-5. It was their first doubleheader sweep since October 3, 2015 at New York Mets.
Bryce Harper's dramatic two-run shot gave the Nats the lead for good in the second game. In the doubleheader, he reached base seven time in eight plate appearances.
Late Saturday night was a big deal for second baseman Adrian Sanchez at the plate. He recorded his first major league triple and finished 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs.
Jefry Rodriguez notched seven strikeouts, a new career high, but allowed four runs in four innings of work.
Today, weather permitting, right-hander Erick Fedde (1-3, 6.00 ERA) takes on left-hander Mike Montgomery (4-5, 3.85) in the series finale.
Update: The game start has been delayed due to inclement weather. More information at nationals.com/rain.
