The sun is shining, the tarp is all rolled up, everybody is (sort of) refreshed after sleeping in this morning and the Nationals and Braves are preparing to play the second game of their four-game series tonight. The Nationals have issued a public apology for their handling of last night's (non-)rain delay and have begun to take some other steps toward appeasing those who were impacted by their decisions. They still have more to do to make things right.
In the meantime, the Nats and Braves will take the field at 7:05 p.m. tonight (we certainly hope so) and continue the series. There's a very slight chance of rain in the forecast, but for now it doesn't appear to be anything to be significantly concerned about.
The Nationals will be without Michael A. Taylor, who is being placed on the 10-day disabled list with a mild right oblique strain. Chris Heisey, who has been out since late May with a ruptured right biceps tendon, is being activated and figures to share time in left field with Ryan Raburn the rest of the weekend, with Brian Goodwin replacing Taylor in center field.
Max Scherzer, meanwhile, has his final tune-up before Tuesday night's All-Star Game, which he very well may start. He'll be going up against ageless knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
