Game times announced for Nationals' 2016 schedule

You can now officially map out your road trips, plan your holidays and get the excuses ready for your bosses. The Nationals schedule was announced last September, but today Major League Baseball released the game times.

The Nationals begin the season in Atlanta on April 4 at 4:10 p.m. Three days later, opening day is celebrated at Nationals Park with a 4:05 p.m. matinee against the Marlins.

Nats Park day game.jpgThe defending National League Central Champion Cardinals travel to D.C. for a four-game series over Memorial Day weekend with three night contests concluding with a 1:35 p.m. start on Sunday, May 29.

The Nationals host the Brewers on the Fourth of July at 11:05 a.m. for the opener of a three-game set. And baseball will also be played in the nation's capital on Labor Day with Atlanta visiting D.C. at 4:05 p.m. on Sept. 5.

You might want to plan for some afternoon "out-of-office meetings" for these juicy weekday games at Nationals Park: vs. Mets on May 25 on 1:05 p.m.; vs. Cubs on June 15 at 4:05 p.m.; vs. Dodgers on July 21 at 12:05 p.m.; vs. Mets on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

The Orioles and Nationals will tangle in another Beltway series Aug. 22-25. All four games are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. with the first two at Camden Yards.

The Nationals close out the season at home against the Marlins on Oct. 2, with the game starting at 3:05 p.m. - the same first pitch time for all major league games to keep playoff suspense alive.
