Game update and more notes (O's lead 2-1)

Chris Taylor doubled with two outs in the second inning today to score Logan Morrison and give the Mariners a 1-0 lead over the Orioles. Miguel Gonzalez has allowed five hits in two innings, including four in the second. Nelson Cruz recorded the Orioles' 25th outfield assist of the season yesterday and Nick Markakis picked up No. 26 today in the second, as Kyle Seager tried to stretch a single into a double. Markakis leads the Orioles with 10 outfield assists. The team ranks second in the American League behind the Athletics (28) and fourth in the majors. The Diamondbacks has 28 outfield assists, one more than the Mets. Mariners rookie Roenis Elias struck out the side today in the first inning, and Cruz was robbed of an extra-base hit leading off the second on a diving catch by right fielder Corey Hart. Elias has four strikeouts in two innings. According to STATS, Cruz leads the majors with 18 home runs against the Mariners since 2009. He's followed by Yeonis Cespedes and Josh Hamilton (14) and Adrian Beltre, Mark Teixeira and Mark Trumbo (13). Wei-Yin Chen, being pushed back in the rotation following Monday's off day, will start Friday night against the Mariners at Camden Yards. Delmon Young is on the bench again today, but he's hitting .317/.344/.455 in 123 at-bats this season, including a .351/.392/.486 slash line in 74 at-bats against right-handed pitching. He's 8-for-16 as a pinch-hitter. Outfielder Henry Urrutia is on Triple-A Norfolk's roster and is active for tonight's game. He went 9-for-48 (.188) in 13 games with the Gulf Coast League team following sports hernia surgery. Infielder Buck Britton was transferred to Double-A Bowie to make room for Urrutia. Update: Seattle's lead didn't last long. Manny Machado led off the third with a single, Caleb Joseph doubled and Jonathan Schoop came through with an RBI single to tie the game. Still no outs. Schoop had two hits in his last 23 at-bats. Update II: The Orioles loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth, and Adam Jones scored on Manny Machado's infield hit to break a 1-1 tie. Miguel Gonzalez allowed one run and eight hits in six innings. Brian Matusz tossed a scoreless seventh, allowing a hit, walking a batter and striking out two.
