Garcia update and minor league note (we're tied)

Technically, tonight's game didn't start on time. First pitch was 7:10 p.m. However, the weather had nothing to do with it. Games here rarely begin at 7:05 p.m. The sky is ominous. And so is Mike Trout, who homered onto the flag court in right field with one out in the third inning to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. Freddy Garcia had retired five straight since walking Mark Trumbo with two outs in the first. He had a 7.71 ERA in the first inning this season, and a 6.43 ERA in the second. Garcia hadn't permitted a run in the third inning in his first seven starts with the Orioles. Weather update:It's raining again. Sky still ominous. Now we return to our regularly scheduled blog, already in progress. Garcia is 16-3 with a 2.66 ERA and 22 quality starts in 29 career starts against the Angels. He's won his last six decisions dating back to 2005. He also won six in a row against them from 2001-2002. Garcia's teams have won 23 of the 29 games he started vs. the Angels, which is pretty amazing. It's not like he's been with the same club and the Angels have been bad. It's not like he only beats them in Anaheim. If you can explain it to me, please fire away. The Orioles have one baserunner against Jered Weaver in three innings. Matt Wieters dropped a single into left field in the second inning. Weaver struck out the side in the third. Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk first baseman Travis Ishikawa was named the Orioles' minor league Player of the Month for May, and Single-A Frederick left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez was named Pitcher of the Month. Game update: Adam Jones hit his second home run in two games, this one coming after Nick Markakis walked in the bottom of the fourth inning. Orioles 2, Angels 1 Weaver threw Jones two straight changeups. The second one disappeared into the left field seats for Jones' 13th home run of the season to go with 42 RBIs. Update II: Garcia also hadn't allowed a run in the sixth until tonight, when Josh Hamilton led off the inning with his ninth home run to tie the game 2-2. To prepare for tonight's conditions, Hamilton must have taken batting practice in a car wash. Garcia has allowed 13 home runs in nine starts this season, and six in his last two games.
