Harper third in National League All-Star voting

The first National League All-Star balloting figures have been released by Major League Baseball, and Bryce Harper is the Nationals' lone representative on the leaderboard to this point. Harper ranks third in the overall voting among NL players, and second among outfielders. The 20-year-old, who is currently on the disabled list with bursitis in his left knee, trails only Giants catcher Buster Posey and Braves outfielder Justin Upton in the overall voting. Harper has garnered 1,182,532 votes so far, not far behind Posey, the overall leader, who has 1,275,956 votes. Last year, Harper became the youngest All-Star position player in history and the third-youngest All-Star ever. Harper is hitting .287 with 12 home runs, 23 RBIs and a .973 OPS this season. He got off to a torrid start but has cooled off over the last month. Injuries have played a factor in Harper's drop-off, as he's battled a host of ailments to his knee, left side, neck and wrist.
