Matt Wieters got ahead, 2-0, and grounded into a double play, and Cesar Izturis tapped to the mound. Floyd allowed three earned runs in 33 2/3 innings in July. His ERA has gone from 6.64 to 3.54 in his last 11 starts. How many chances do the Orioles think he's going to give them? The top of the fifth featured something you rarely see: A runner going in standing on a stolen base attempt and being tagged out. Gordon Beckham didn't even bother to slide after Wieters' throw arrived in plenty of time. Kevin Millwood has held Chicago to one run and four hits through the fifth inning, with two walks and two strikeouts. He's thrown 81 pitches. Millwood has cleared the sixth inning in two of his last 10 starts and has allowed five earned runs or more in eight of his last 10. He's more than due for a quality outing. He might need a little more run support. Update: Jason Berken has replaced Millwood, who allowed one run and four hits in six innings. Millwood walked two, struck out two and threw 98 pitches (59 strikes). This is the first time that the Orioles have strung together five straight quality starts since April 28-May 3, 2008, when Daniel Cabrera (two), Garrett Olson, Matt Albers, Brian Burres and Jeremy Guthrie ran the streak to six. Update II: Millwood is denied the win after A.J. Pierzynski sent a high chopper over Wigginton's head for a two-out RBI double off Berken that tied the game, 2-2. Tonight's attendance: 24,929. Down on the farm, Double-A Bowie's Chorye Spoone is throwing a two-hit shutout through the fifth inning, with no walks and three strikeouts. This is Spoone's first start since July 26. Rick VandenHurk's fastball was clocked between 90-95 mph in his start for Triple-A Norfolk.
