Inclement weather forces another change in O's schedule

The Orioles can't get away from bad weather. Only the cities change.

Following Monday morning's postponement in Boston, the Orioles have agreed to allow the Tigers to move Wednesday's game at Comerica Park from 6:40 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. due to "impending inclement weather."

Major League Baseball granted approval to adjust the start time with the latest forecast in Detroit calling for a 70 percent chance of rain in the evening.

The game will air on MASN and 105.7 The Fan.

The teams will attempt to play tonight despite the possibility of snow showers and a projected low of 28 degrees.

In Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Red Sox, the Orioles wore ski masks and multiple layers of clothing to combat a game time temperature of 34 degrees and 23 mph winds. Light precipitation fell throughout the day.

Seven of the Orioles' 16 games have been held with the first-pitch temperature below 50 degrees. They won two of them in New York while playing 14 and 12 innings.

The Orioles are going through a stretch where they'll play seven of 11 road games during the day, including Thursday's series finale in Detroit. It would have been eight of 12 without Monday's postponement.

Andrew Cashner, on the mound tonight for the Orioles, has made one career start against the Tigers and it was a beauty. He tossed a one-hit shutout on April 11, 2014 while pitching for the Padres, walking two batters and striking out 11. He's never pitched at Comerica Park.

Rajai Davis had the only hit off Cashner with a one-out single in the sixth inning.

Players on the 2018 Tigers have limited exposure to Cashner. Leonys Martín is 0-for-5 with two strikeouts, Miguel Cabrera is 0-for-4, Victor Martínez is 0-for-2 with a walk and tonight's starter, Francisco Liriano, is 0-for-1.

Liriano, on his sixth team, has allowed three runs over 12 2/3 innings in his two starts. He's struck out only seven batters.

Liriano is 2-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.491 WHIP in 10 career starts against the Orioles. Adam Jones is 8-for-25 (.320) with one double and three home runs and Chris Davis is 3-for-9 with a home run and five strikeouts.

Craig Gentry is 2-for-11 with six strikeouts and Manny Machado is 2-for-10 with four strikeouts.
