Jordan Zimmermann takes the mound looking to claim just the second series win for the Nationals at home since the All-Star break.
Zimmermann didn't fare so well facing his home-state Brewers in Milwaukee on June 12. In his second shortest outing of the season, the right-hander allowed six runs on nine hits before being bounced after 3 1/3 innings.
Zimmermann is 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA in two career starts against the Brewers at Nationals Park.
Bryce Harper has reached safely in 44 of his last 46 games after going 1-for-4 last night. Harper is 6-for-17 (.353) with a homer, two doubles, one RBI, six walks and six runs scored over his last five games.
Harper's 31 homers continue to lead the National League while his .638 slugging percentage and 1.093 OPS are tops in the majors.
Veteran right-hander Matt Garza brings a 6-13 record and 4.98 ERA into today's start for the Brewers. He gave up five runs (one earned) while striking out seven as the Brewers came from behind late to beat the Nats 6-5 on June 11 in Milwaukee. Clint Robinson smacked his first career major league homer against Garza in the loss.
