Koji progressing (w/Tillman update)

Koji Uehara is scheduled to pitch in a simulated game tomorrow, his first chance to face live hitters. The Orioles will determine whether he needs to go on an injury rehab assignment. Uehara made 30 throws off flat ground yesterday. As far as we know, he hasn't stood on a mound during his time in Sarasota, so a rehab assignment seems like the next logical step. "It all depends how it goes, whether he stays here or if he needs to go on a rehab assignment," interim manager Juan Samuel said. "That's going to be determined tomorrow after he throws." Uehara hasn't pitched since May 19 in Texas. "We do want him to face some hitters," Samuel said. Uehara will be used in one-inning intervals once he's activated, same as before. "We just want to wait and see how he throws, and then we'll map out the situation with our bullpen," Samuel said. Felix Pie didn't appear in today's Gulf Coast League game after serving as the designated hitter for two straight days. The Orioles are going to ease him into the outfield during his rehab assignment, making sure he can handle the throws. Samuel insists that the Orioles haven't made a decision on Saturday's starter, though we expect Brad Bergesen to be recalled. "We don't know who that guy's going to be, what we're doing with that," Samuel said. Chris Tillman is scheduled to start tomorrow afternoon for Triple-A Norfolk. He'll face Lehigh Valley's Nelson Figueroa.
