Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has been named the American League's Player of the Week for June 8-14.
Machado batted .458 (11-for-24) with a double, two home runs and five RBIs to earn the honor.
Machado is batting .455/.500/.758 during an eight-game hitting streak, tied for his longest streak this season. He has six multi-hit games in that stretch.
Shortstop J.J. Hardy is batting .308/.345/.385 during his seven-game hitting streak. It's his longest streak since May 18-26, 2014 (eight games).
Center fielder Adam Jones has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, batting .356/.383/.756. Jones is batting .303/.346/.504 in 31 games this season at Camden Yards.
Triple-A Norfolk left-hander Chris Jones, 26, was named International League Pitcher of the Week after taking a perfect game into the sixth inning Friday night against Lehigh Valley. He allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings.
Jones' ERA is 2.24, second-lowest in the league.
The Orioles will make an announcement later today regarding Tides outfielder/first baseman Chris Parmelee, who had the right to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract today. Parmelee is batting .312/381/.444 with 13 doubles, six home runs and 32 RBIs in 61 games. He's a career .249/.317/.392 hitter in four major league seasons and 273 games.
The Braves purchased the contract of former Orioles catcher Ryan Lavarnway.
Update: I'm hearing that Parmelee is at Camden Yards today. Still no confirmation from the team. Stay tuned.
