The Nationals will commemorate memorable home runs at Nationals Park, similar to the way Frank Howard's mammoth blasts to the upper deck at RFK Stadium were signified by seats painted white where the ball hit, according to those attending an invitation-only event at Nationals Park on Tuesday night.
There will be five initial dramatic home runs that will be honored with specially painted seats in the Nationals Park outfield. They are:
* March 30, 2008 - Ryan Zimmerman walk-off home run
* July 20, 2012 - Michael Morse home run to Red Porch
* April 5, 2014 - Adam LaRoche homer to third level
* April 9, 2014 - Bryce Harper homer to third level
* Oct. 3, 2015 - Harper homer to third level in National League Division Series
You'll notice Jayson Werth's walk-off homer that won Game 4 of the NLDS on Oct. 11, 2012 is missing from the list. Because that blast landed in the visitor's bullpen, it will be marked by plaque.
You have to think Harper will add a ton of home runs to this list and that means a lot of non-blue seats in the right field upper deck over the next few seasons.
Here is an image of one of the white Howard home run seats at RFK Stadium, the Nationals' home from 2005-2007. The American League's Senators were the stadium's primary tenant from 1962-71 before departing for Texas, where they became the Rangers.
