Mock starts tonight in Woodbridge as P-Nats come home in 1st place

Right-hander Garrett Mock makes his second rehab start tonight for the Potomac Nationals in their regularly scheduled 7:03 p.m. game at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge. This will be his second start since neck surgery in late April. Mock says he expects to go four innings tonight with a maximum of 65 pitches. Last week, Garret was solid in three innings for Hagerstown against Lexington, allowing one hit, no runs, one walk and striking out three on 34 pitches. He threw 15 more pitches in a post-start bullpen session. Potomac had one of their most successful road trips in quite some time, winning five of their last six games. First baseman Tyler Moore remains hot with his 83rd RBI of the season (a new Potomac record) coming on a fourth inning run-scoring single in a 4-3 win at Myrtle Beach. The P-Nats are now in first place in the Northern Division of the Carolina League. Outfielder Bill Rhinehart has also been tearing it up at the plate, helping to lead the P-Nats' surge to first. Rhinehart batted .378 with 14 hits, eight runs, four doubles, three homers and six RBI, earning Carolina League Player of the Week honors. Potomac finishes a suspended game against Lynchburg at 5:00 p.m. Then Mock takes to the mound against the Hillcats in the regularly scheduled game at 7:00 p.m. The P-Nats have a 12:05 p.m. game on Tuesday at the Pfitz. For Syracuse yesterday, left-hander Matt Chico allowed four runs in 5 2/3 but won 8-4. Danny Espinosa hit his second homer in three games and fifth homer in the past four games if you count his final Double-A game last week.
