Nationals look for revenge against Reds; Solis recalled (with lineups)

The Reds slammed the brakes on a scorching May for the Nationals with a three-game sweep in Cincinnati over the final three days of the month. It was a rough series for the Nationals bullpen, with relievers Taylor Jordan, Aaron Barrett and Casey Janssen taking a loss each.

Reds right-hander Anthony DeSclafani will get his second crack at the Nationals tonight. The rookie allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings to claim the win over Washington on May 29.

SammySolisSidebar.jpgThe Nationals recalled lefty Sammy Solis from Double A-Harrisburg this afternoon and placed right-hander David Carpenter on paternity leave. Carpenter's wife, Brittny, gave birth to their son, Darrell David Carpenter IV, earlier today.

The 26-year-old Solis made his major league debut on April 30 and started his career with six consecutive scoreless innings over his first three appearances. He was 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA before inflammation in his throwing shoulder sent him to the 15-day disabled list on May 22.

In 11 minor league games with Double-A Harrisburg this season, Solis is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA.
