Nationals option RHP Blake Treinen to Syracuse, recall LHP Xavier Cedeno

The Washington Nationals today optioned right-hander Blake Treinen to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and recalled left-handed pitcher Xavier Cedeno from Syracuse. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Cedeno, 27, joins the Nationals for his second Major League stint this season. In his one Major League appearance this season, April 21 vs. Los Angeles (AL), Cedeno tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits. In 13 appearances with Triple-A Syracuse (14.2 innings), Cedeno is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA. The left-handed pitcher has allowed just two earned runs all season and owns a 6.7 strikeout-to-walk ratio (20 SO/3 BB), the highest such mark of his Minor League career. Treinen, 25, appeared in four games (three starts) for the Nationals during his third Major League call-up of the season. During this stint, Treinen was 0-2 though he pitched to a 2.89 ERA and never allowed more than two earned runs in a start. On the season, Treinen is 0-3 with a 2.80 ERA in eight Major League games (four starts), spanning 30.1 innings.
