The Washington Nationals recalled first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed right-handed pitcher Dan Haren on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to Sunday, with right shoulder inflammation. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Moore is batting .158 with five doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI, six walks and seven runs scored in 38 games this season with the Nationals. The 26-year-old posted eight hits, including two doubles and two home runs, with eight RBI and five walks during his 12-game stint with Syracuse.
A key member of Davey Johnson's bench during the '12 season, Moore hit .263 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 156 at-bats during his rookie campaign. He led Washington with two pinch-homers last season.
Haren, 32, is 4-9 with a 6.15 ERA in 15 starts this season with Washington.
