The Washington Nationals returned from rehab and reinstated outfielder Adam Eaton from the 60-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Wander Suero to Triple-A Syracuse. Additionally, the Nationals released outfielder Rafael Bautista. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Eaton, 29, returns to the Nationals after missing 51 games. Prior to being placed on the disabled list on April 11, Eaton hit .345 (10-for-29) with three doubles, two homers, five RBI, three walks and 10 runs scored.
Eaton was named National League Player of the Week after going 8-for-13 (.615) with two home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored in the first series of the 2018 season.
Suero, 26, appeared in 12 games, posting a 4.15 ERA (6 ER/13.0 IP) while striking out 11 batters and issuing five walks along the way.
Bautista, 25, appeared in 26 games for Washington across two seasons (2017-18). He went 4-for-31 (.129) while appearing in right field (12 games), left field (5 games) and center field (4 games).
