Two days after optioning left-hander Zac Lowther to Triple-A Norfolk, the Orioles filled out their 26-man roster by reinstating Rule 5 pick Mac Sceroler from the injured list prior to tonight's series opener against the Mets at Camden Yards.
The Orioles also reinstated infielder Pat Valaika from the bereavement list and optioned infielder Ramón UrÃas to Norfolk.
Sceroler has made two appearances, none since April 11, due to right shoulder tendinitis. He's allowed three runs and five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
UrÃas had two hits Sunday, including a home run.
Rookie left-hander Bruce Zimmermann has allowed three runs and struck out 13 batters in his last two starts covering 10 1/3 innings. He's never faced the Mets.
Mets left-hander David Peterson, the 20th-overall pick in the 2017 draft out of the University of Oregon, has a 5.89 ERA and 1.398 WHIP in 10 starts. He's walked 20 batters and struck out 49 in 44 1/3 innings.
Left-handers are batting .341/.413/.439 against Peterson this season, going 14-for-41.
Peterson has made one career relief appearance in 20 major league games and it came against the Orioles on Sept. 2, 2020 at Camden Yards. He tossed four scoreless innings with two hits allowed.
Rio Ruiz and Cedric Mullins singled in the fourth inning.
Reliever Miguel Castro, infielder Jonathan Villar and outfielder Mason Williams return to Baltimore.
Castro has a 2.52 ERA and 1.160 WHIP in 23 games, including two starts as an opener.
Villar is batting .248/.335/.409 with five doubles, a triple, five home runs and 14 RBIs in 47 games. Williams is 3-for-15 in seven games.
The Mets swept a two-game series against the Orioles at Citi Field, winning 3-2 and 7-1.
