The Orioles enter a new month with pitchers Alexander Wells and Dusten Knight added to their expanded roster.
Wells has a 7.71 ERA and a 1.929 WHIP in six games with the Orioles, but he's strung together three consecutive scoreless appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. Knight allowed six earned runs (seven total) and eight hits with four walks and nine strikeouts in his five outings with the Orioles over 7 1/3 innings.
Both pitchers were on the taxi squad during the series against the Blue Jays that concludes tonight.
Austin Hays has an eight-game hitting streak as he settles into the third spot in the order and plays left field. He's 11-for-26.
Ryan Mountcastle, who's the designated hitter, has seven hits in 12 at-bats, including two home runs, in the last three games. He's also scored six runs.
Ryan McKenna is 0-for-7 with six strikeouts in two games since his latest return to the Orioles. He's on the bench tonight, with Anthony Santander in right field.
Austin Wynn is catching.
Cedric Mullins has 24 home runs and 25 stolen bases. His next homer will make him the third Orioles player with a 25/25 season, joining Reggie Jackson (1976) and Don Baylor (1975).
Matt Harvey's 14 losses are tied with teammate Jorge López for most in the American League. He's made three starts against the Blue Jays and gone 0-2 with an 8.56 ERA and a 2.049 WHIP in 13 2/3 innings.
George Springer is 5-for-12 with three home runs lifetime against Harvey and he's leading off again tonight.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 5-for-7 with a home run against Harvey and he's batting .372/.429/.977 against the Orioles this season with two doubles, eight home runs and 18 RBIs in 11 games.
The Orioles will try to win their first road series since July 16-18 in Kansas City immediately after the All-Star break.
Left-hander Steven Matz is 10-7 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.322 WHIP this season in 23 starts. He made five starts in August and allowed only four earned runs in 27 2/3 innings.
Matz has surrendered three earned runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts.
In his only start against the Orioles this season, Matz allowed three earned runs and four total with six hits in four innings. Mullins and Pedro Severino hit home runs.

The Yankees are listing Nestor Cortes, Jordan Montgomery and Corey Kluber as their starters against the Orioles in the series that begins Friday night in the Bronx.
Update: The Orioles are starting John Means, Chris Ellis and Keegan Akin in New York. Manager Brandon Hyde said Wells will be used more in bulk/long relief for now, but the left-hander also was mentioned as a possibility for Tuesday night's start against the Royals, when the Orioles need to expand their rotation.
Hyde also included Dean Kremer and Zac Lowther among pitchers with Triple-A Norfolk.
"I think the majority of the guys that are on the 40-man roster at this point," Hyde said.
As for Wells, Hyde said, "He's somebody that we're going to take a look at here in September. But as of right now, for me, it's more of a multi-inning, longer relief role."
Mike Baumann is pushing for a promotion with another dominant start last night for the Tides and he's on the 40-man.
"I'm not sure actually if he's in consideration to be called up," Hyde said. "I just think we're probably going to call someone to make that start who's on the 40-man roster so we don't have to add somebody, but what the plans are with Baumann for September, I'm not really sure at this point."
There was a scoring change in the Aug. 26 game against the Angels. Mullins is now awarded a double instead of reaching on an error.
Mullins now sits at 31 doubles and 151 hits on the season.
