Orioles and Tigers lineups (updated)

Anthony Santander is the cleanup hitter tonight as the Orioles continue their series against the Tigers in Detroit.

Santander is starting in right field and DJ Stewart is in left. Austin Hays is on the bench.

Pat Valaika remains in the lineup at second base.

Pedro Severino is catching again tonight. He homered twice last night for his second career multi-homer game, and has hit three in the last two games. He's 5-for-14 in his last four games.

Severino is batting .333/.400/.767 in his last nine games.

Since June 1, the Orioles are 17-8 when Ryan McKenna has appeared in a game. He's counted among the reserves tonight.

Left-hander John Means is making his third start since coming off the injured list. He's allowed nine runs and 12 hits in 11 2/3 innings.

Means made two starts against the Tigers in 2019 and allowed six runs in 11 2/3 innings.

The Orioles are 8-5 since the break.

Tigers rookie right-hander Matt Manning has made seven starts and allowed 22 earned runs (23 total) and 36 hits in 33 innings. He's walked 11 batters and struck out 17.

Manning was the ninth-overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Sheldon High School in Sacramento, Calif. He joined the rotation on June 17.

Right-handers are batting .328/.375/.552 against Manning and left-handers are hitting .222/.301/.349.

Miguel Cabrera recorded his 2,940th and 2,941st career hits last night and his 422-foot sacrifice fly was the longest in the majors since Anthony Rizzo's 424-footer against the Tigers on Aug. 26, 2020.

Updated: Manager Brandon Hyde said left-hander Keegan Akin should be reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list on Sunday and is headed to the bullpen.

"And then anything can happen these last seven, eight weeks," Hyde said.

Hyde said Urías is going to be the primary shortstop with Galvis traded to the Phillies. Urías would have played second base if Galvis stayed in the organization.

Hyde said he's "pleasantly surprised" by Urías' contributions.

Reliever Hunter Harvey remains in a throwing progression down in Sarasota, Fla. and could be reinstated from the injured list by mid-August.
