The Orioles activated veteran right-hander Alex Cobb from the injured list leading into today's start in the opener of today's doubleheader against the Yankees in the Bronx.
Cobb is the 29th man for the doubleheader. A corresponding roster move must be made after the nightcap, and it doesn't have to involve Cobb.
The 40-man roster and 60-man player pools are full.
Pat Valaika is playing first base and batting ninth, with Chris Davis on the bench. Davis hasn't played since the Orioles activated him from the injured list.
José Iglesias is playing shortstop and batting second again. Ryan Mountcastle is the cleanup hitter.
Hanser Alberto moves down to eighth.
Gerrit Cole remains the first-game starter for the Yankees, removing his rematch with rookie Keegan Akin, who is starting the second game. Masahiro Tanaka is pitching tonight for New York.
Cole struck out eight of the first nine batters Saturday and retired 11 in a row and 15 of 16 before the Orioles scored five runs in the sixth inning. DJ Stewart broke an 0-for-17 streak to begin the season with two home runs.
The Yankees lead the Orioles by 1 1/2 games for the eighth playoff spot in the American League.
