Orioles announce 2014 schedule

The Orioles today announced they will open the 2014 season at home on March 31 against the Boston Red Sox. Next year will mark the 60th Anniversary Season since the club moved to Baltimore from St. Louis in 1954 to become the modern-day Orioles. It is the 61st overall season for the club and their 23rd at Oriole Park. The Orioles will play a three-game series against the Red Sox at Oriole Park March 31-April 3 to open the season, the first of three trips Boston will make to Baltimore in 2014. The Orioles will face each of their AL East rivals three times at Oriole Park, with 10 games each against the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays and nine games each against the Red Sox and New York Yankees. The Red Sox will return to Baltimore June 9-11 and September 19-21; the Yankees will visit Charm City July 11-13, August 11-13 and September 12-14; the Rays will visit Oriole Park April 14-16, June 27-29 and August 25-28; and the Blue Jays will play in Baltimore April 11-13, June 12-15 and September 15-17. The Orioles' final 22 games will be against AL East opponents. The 2014 Interleague schedule features visits to Baltimore by the Pittsburgh Pirates (April 29-30), Washington Nationals (July 9-10), St. Louis Cardinals (August 8-10) and Cincinnati Reds (September 2-4). The Orioles will visit the Pirates (May 20-21), Milwaukee Brewers (May 26-28), Nationals (July 7-8) and Chicago Cubs (August 22-24) as part of Interleague Play. Baltimore will host the rest of the AL once: Kansas City Royals (April 25-27), Houston Astros (May 9-11), Detroit Tigers (May 12-14), Cleveland Indians (May 22-25), Oakland A's (June 6-8), Chicago White Sox (June 23-25), Texas Rangers (June 30-July 3), Los Angeles Angels (July 29-31), Seattle Mariners (August 1-3), and Minnesota Twins (August 29-September 1). The Orioles will play 17 of 27 games in June at home, their busiest month at Oriole Park. Overall, the Birds will play 49 of the 95 games prior to the All-Star break (July 14-17) at home. They have two 10-game homestands, June 6-15 (Oakland, Boston and Toronto) and June 23-July 3 (Chicago, Tampa Bay and Texas). They also host New York, Toronto and Boston for a nine-game homestand, September 12-21. The Orioles will play 18 of 28 games in May on the road. They have two road trips of 10 or more games, traveling to Milwaukee, Houston and Texas, May 26-June 5 and Oakland, Los Angeles and Seattle, July 18-27. The team also has a nine-game trip to Cleveland and Chicago (White Sox and Cubs), August 15-24. The complete 2014 schedule is attached, with times to be announced at a later date.
