The Orioles today announced that they have claimed left-hander Jed Bradley off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Paul Janish has been designated for assignment.
Bradley, 26, went 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA (4 ER/7.0 IP) over six relief appearances with the Atlanta Braves in 2016, including earning the win in his major league debut on Sept. 3 at Philadelphia. He went 9-5 with a 3.09 ERA (37 ER/107.2 IP) in 35 minor league games (13 starts) this season between Double-A Biloxi, Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett. He was acquired by Atlanta from the Milwaukee Brewers on June 2 in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Over 141 career minor league games (77 starts), he went 31-34 with a 4.34 ERA (241 ER/499.1 IP) and 396 strikeouts. Bradley was originally selected by the Brewers in the first round (No. 15 overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Tech University.
Janish, 33, hit .194/.286/.226 (6-for-31) with one double and three runs scored over 14 games with the Orioles this season.
