"Orioles Classics" #TBT: Mancini makes game-saving leaping catch

We had a great time at Orioles FanFest this past weekend! Thank you to all the fans who stopped by for their free Social Snapshots or just to say "Hey" to our team, and congrats to all of you who left with great prizes.

Of course, some of the highlights of the day were the Orioles players and MASN talent stopping by to take Social Snapshots with you fans. And what a way to kick off the day by having outfielder Trey Mancini as our first visitor.

Mancini was not just a highlight at FanFest, but pretty much all of last season as well. And in this particular highlight for our Throwback Thursday moment, it was his glove, not his bat, that made the big play.

On Sept. 1, the Orioles and Blue Jays were in scoreless deadlock at Camden Yards. It felt like one of those games that whoever scored first would walk away the victor.

Mancini made sure it wasn't the Jays.

In the top of the 13th inning, with a runner on second and two outs, former Oriole Steve Pearce sent a deep fly ball to left field, one that seemed like a sure RBI double. But not so fast. Mancini made an incredible leaping catch to record the final out, keep the Blue Jays off the board and give the Orioles a shot to win it.

And that they did, as Jonathan Schoop delivered a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the frame for a thrilling 1-0 win.

Thursday, Feb. 1, 7 p.m. - This one will forever be a crowd favorite. The 2016 home run champ Mark Trumbo picked up right where he left off on opening day this past year by crushing a walk-off homer in the 11th inning against the Blue Jays for a 3-2 win.

Friday, Feb. 2, 12:30 p.m. - Matt Wieters' 11th-inning walk-off longball gave the Birds a 2-1 win over Braves on July 27, 2015.

Monday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. - A few weeks later, Henry Urrutia's home run in the ninth gave the O's a 5-4 win over Mets on Aug. 19.

Tuesday, Feb. 6, 12:30 p.m. - And a couple of days before that, the Birds' bats exploded for a 26-hit attack to beat A's 18-2 at Camden Yards on Aug. 16.

Tuesday, Feb. 6, 7 p.m. - On July 23 this past summer, Zach Britton set the American League consecutive saves record with his 55th straight as the Orioles beat the Astros 9-7.

Wednesday, Feb. 7, 9 a.m. - In a season in which he hit 47 home runs, Chris Davis notched two of them to carry the O's to 4-3 win over A's on Aug. 15, 2015.
