WASHINGTON - The Orioles' game against the Nationals tonight in D.C. has been postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up Thursday at 4:05 p.m., eliminating the off-day for both clubs. The alternative was a doubleheader Tuesday or Wednesday.
No word yet on how the rainout impacts the Orioles' rotation, but the starters are expected to be kept in order. Ubaldo Jimenez would start on Tuesday, followed by Chris Tillman on Wednesday and rookie Tyler Wilson on Thursday.
This is the second weather-related postponement for the Orioles this season and the first on the road. Two games against the White Sox in late April were postponed due to the rioting.
Rain continues to fall at Nationals Park and the tarp has covered the infield since early this afternoon. The forecast doesn't offer a window to play. No sense waiting around any longer.
Update: As predicted, the O's rotation will stay in order. Jimenez will pitch on Tuesday, Tillman on Wednesday and Wilson on Thursday.
The Nationals have announced that Gio Gonzalez, who was scheduled to start tonight, will stay in turn and start Tuesday.
