Orioles promote Mike Hoppes to Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

The Orioles today announced that the club has promoted Mike Hoppes to Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Hoppes will oversee the organization's finance and accounting functions, including the team's financial reporting with Major League Baseball and the Commissioner's Office. In this role, he joins the club's Senior Leadership Team that manages all aspects of the organization's business operations, consisting of six veteran executives each holding decades of industry experience.

A native of Germantown, Md., Hoppes has been with the Orioles for 34 years. He joined the club in 1986 as a staff accountant after spending two years as a staff auditor with Arthur Andersen LLP, where he helped set up internal controls for the Orioles Ticket Office as a consultant. In 2006, he was promoted to Director of Finance, a role he held until being named the Vice President of Finance in 2012.

Hoppes attended the University of Delaware, where he graduated cum laude in accounting. He received his CPA certification in 1987. Hoppes currently resides in Baldwin, Md., and has spent several years in leadership roles with the Carroll Manor Recreation Programs.
