Orioles to host nearly 20,000 youth for special events this homestand

The Orioles will host approximately 20,000 youth at three special events during the homestand that starts today. Scout Night, Little League Day and Field Trip Day will bring thousands of kids to Oriole Park to enjoy special activities surrounding the games. Scout Night on May 21 will reward local Boy Scouts; Little League Day on May 22 will give youth baseball and softball teams the opportunity to parade around the warning track prior to the game; Field Trip Day on May 26 will provide students with an outdoor classroom lesson about weather and the environment, hosted MASN and WJZ-TV. Scout Night On Saturday, May 21 over 1,500 Baltimore area Boy Scouts will attend the Orioles game against the Washington Nationals at 4:05 p.m. The Orioles will honor the top sellers in the Boy Scout's popcorn selling fundraiser from last summer with several incentives, including a personal tour of the ballpark earlier in the day; a chance to be on the field to watch batting practice; presentation of the lineup card; Orioles Heavy Hitter award; and the ceremonial first pitch. All participants will receive a special Oriole Park at Camden Yards scout badge. Little League Day On Sunday, May 22, the Orioles will host their first Little League Day at Camden Yards. Over 11,000 pre-registered youth baseball participants will take part in a pre-game parade around the warning track and meet Orioles players as they walk by the dugout. Teams dressed in their uniforms will carry banners and wave to their family members as they round the field. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m., with first pitch against the Washington Nationals set for 1:35 p.m. A second Little League Day will take place on Sunday, June 5. Field Trip Day On Thursday, May 26, OriolesREACH, in partnership with MASN and WJZ-TV, will host the fourth annual Field Trip Day before the Orioles play the Kansas City Royals at 12:35 p.m. More than 7,000 students from local schools will be at Camden Yards to learn about the weather from WJZ TV'S First Warning Weather Team of Bob Turk, Bernadette Woods and Tim Williams. Orioles Head Groundskeeper Nicole Sherry and Chris Strong from the National Weather Service will speak to the students as well.-TV.
