The high Single-A Potomac Nationals welcomed promoted players from low Single-A and continued their winning ways to begin the second half of the Carolina League season.
Fresh up from Hagerstown, Victor Robles and Max Schrock combined for four hits in a 5-1 victory over Winston-Salem.
Nationals closer Jonathan Papelbon needed just 10 pitches in his rehab from an intercostal injury to retire three batters in the top of the first on a flyout, strikeout and groundout. He was back in the Nationals' dugout before the end of the game to watch his big league teammates come back and finish off the Mets, 11-4.
Right-hander Erick Fedde picked up for Papelbon in the second and tossed five frames. Fedde (4-3) allowed one run on a solo homer on five hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. He fired 62 pitches, 39 for strikes.
Left fielder Alec Keller went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBIs and a run scored. Right fielder Drew Vettleson had a double and two RBIs. Keller is now batting .292. First baseman Jose Marmolejos went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. He is hitting .284.
The P-Nats are now 4-0.
Triple-A Syracuse fell 5-0 to Scranton Wilkes-Barre in Trea Turner's first start in center field. Turner made a couple of fly ball catches for outs in center field.
Right fielder Zach Collier registered his first Triple-A base hit, one of four hits for Syracuse. Right-hander Taylor Hill allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings to drop to 3-7.
Isaac Ballou cranked his 2nd homer of the season in Double-A Harrisburg's 10-1 loss to Bowie. The solo shot came in the sixth inning to avoid the shutout, as Ballou finished 2-for-3.
