Potomac nets six players on Carolina League All-Star squad

It has been a solid start to the season for manager Tripp Keister's high Single-A Potomac Nationals. They have demonstrated power in their offense and have done a nice job pitching. On Monday, they were rewarded with six players on the Carolina League Northern Division All-Star team.

baseballs-in-bin-sidebar.jpgRight-handers Tyler Mapes, Sterling Sharp and Wil Crowe, catcher Tres Barrera, shortstop Carter Kieboom and third baseman Jake Noll were named to the Carolina League All-Star Game.

The six players selected are the most selected for any team in the Northern Division. The game will be played at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, N.C., on Tuesday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

* Kameron Esthay hit his fifth homer of the season, but the low Single-A Hagerstown Suns lost to the Lakewood BlueClaws 4-1.

Triple-A Syracuse lost to Pawtucket 3-1. Chris Dominguez smacked a home run for Syracuse and Chiefs pitchers struck out 13 Red Sox hitters in the loss.

Double-A Harrisburg overcame an early five-run deficit to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-6 on Sunday afternoon in Richmond. Kelvin Gutierrez hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth. The Senators continue the road trip with a three-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils, which starts tonight.
