Potomac's Olbrychowski records best outing of summer, won two of last three

Single-A Potomac Nationals right-hander Adam Olbrychowski is on a roll recently in Woodbridge, Va. The Pepperdine hurler has allowed three hits or less in three of his last four starts. His most recent start, Aug. 5, was his best in over a month and his top outing since he returned to a starting role nine games ago. Friday at Myrtle Beach, Olbrychowski went a career-high eight innings, allowing three hits, one run, three walks and had six strikeouts for his fourth win of the season, a 6-1 victory. He allowed a leadoff double and a walk in the bottom of the second, and then retired the next 10 hitters. Potomac Nationals pitching coach Paul Menhart said Olbrychowski put in his most complete effort of the summer in notching the victory. "{Olby} commanded his fastball very well," Menhart said. "Without a doubt, this outing was the best he has been all year. His changeup and curveball were also very good. He recorded some easy outs. Olby had a great mix of his pitches, keeping the hitters off balance. I thought it was a solid effort." This run began July 19 in a home game against Lynchburg. Olbrychowski has won two of his last three starts. Alongside, Cameron Selik and Sammy Solis, Olbrychowski leads a talented group that looks to maintain its consistency since Danny Rosenbaum was elevated to Double-A Harrisburg.
