Quick Tejada update

Miguel Tejada played third base today in an extended spring training game, and he doubled for his first hit since signing a minor league contract. Tejada served as the designated hitter in his first game on Tuesday, and he played shortstop yesterday at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota. Executive vice president Dan Duquette said Tejada will be evaluated over a seven-to-10 day period before the club decides whether to keep him. He isn't being paid while staying at extended spring training. The Orioles want to upgrade defensively at third base, which is why they also signed Bill Hall to a minor league deal. Tejada contacted the Orioles about receiving a tryout after he couldn't land a major league contract in free agency. Tejada, who turns 38 later this month, batted .234/.270/.326 with 16 doubles, four homers and 26 RBIs in 91 games with the Giants last season. He's already had two tours with the Orioles, from 2004-2007 and again in 2010.
