Relive "Nationals Classics": Walk-offs, mound gems and Strasmas

The World Series is over and the baseball offseason is upon us. Which means a few of you are having trouble coping without your daily fix of serious jammage, "See you later!" home run calls and "There goes the no-hitter" jocularity.

And while spring training is still a little more than three months away, we've got a way to combat those winter blues. Who cares if it gets dark an hour earlier? There are still "Nationals Classics" on MASN to keep you company through the long, winter chill.

This week's offerings include some late heroics and standout pitching performances by Nationals past and present. Sit back, tune in and enjoy the memories ...

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. - The game was tied 2-2 at Citizens Bank Park when Ian Desmond stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the 11th inning. Desmond provided a grand finish to an extra-inning victory over the Phillies on June 19, 2013.

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m. - Tired of election chatter yet? Check out this July 23, 2016 game, when a rare walk-off triple by Stephen Drew gave the Nats a 3-2 win over the Padres.

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1 p.m. - If you like stellar mound efforts, this April 26, 2013 game against the Reds, managed by future Nats skipper Dusty Baker, is for you. Washington's Jordan Zimmerman allowed only one hit - an Xavier Paul single - in a 1-0 victory that took a mere 2 hours, 8 minutes.

Adam_Laroche_swinging_in_red_jersey-sidebar.jpgThursday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. - First baseman Adam LaRoche wasn't in the starting lineup for this getaway day game at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 3, 2014. But LaRoche entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the ninth, cracking a two-run homer in a three-run rally that briefly provided the Nats a 3-2 lead. It took 14 innings, but the Nats prevailed 8-5, with LaRoche tallying five RBIs.

Thursday, Nov. 10, 6 p.m. - By the time you're wrapping up dinner, Trea Turner's second homer of this Sept. 9, 2016 win over the Phillies - a walk-off shot in the ninth - will provide a satisfying dessert.

Friday, Nov. 11, 12:30 p.m. - We couldn't be writing about walk-off homers without including a blast from Mr. Walk-off himself, Ryan Zimmerman. On July 6, 2010, Zimmerman walked off the Padres, leading off the home ninth with a shot to deep center field.

Sunday, Nov. 13, 5 p.m. - Christmas may be about six weeks away, but it's always a treat to relive Strasmas, the June 8, 2010 game where heralded former No. 1 overall pick Stephen Strasburg made his major league debut. Strasburg didn't disappoint, fanning 14 Pirates in a 5-2 victory before a packed house on South Capitol Street.
