Reynolds second-decked since long home run

Maybe it's a jinx to hit a ball into the second deck at Camden Yards. Rex Hudler never made it into the Hall of Fame, and Mark Reynolds can't make it to first base. Reynolds is 1-for-26 with 12 strikeouts since his 450-foot blast - or his 463-foot blast, depending on who's doing the measuring. Reynolds will try to get untracked tonight against Oakland left-hander Gio Gonzalez. He's 0-for-2 with an RBI, three walks and a strikeout against Gonzalez, which basically tells us nothing. Reynolds is hitting .218 against left-handers this season and .207 against right-handers. Hey, he'll take any edge he can get these days. Speaking of days, he's batting .270 in the afternoon and .186 at night. So much for an edge. Reynolds is batting .163 with 13 homers and 30 RBIs at home and .261 with 13 homers and 32 RBIs on the road. We've found another edge. I'm predicting that he goes 2-for-4 with two singles. I'll post the lineup later today, but I'd expect to find Robert Andino batting first. He's right-handed and he's 3-for-7 lifetime against Gonzalez. J.J. Hardy is 2-for-5. Yes, a small sample size. Matt Wieters is 6-for-11 with a double and two RBIs. That's good. Adam Jones is 2-for-13. That's bad. Nolan Reimold will be back in left field. He's 1-for-6 against Gonzalez. He's also playing left field as well, if not better, than Felix Pie, according to manager Buck Showalter. That's not good news for Pie, who's already limited to mostly being a pinch-runner and defensive replacement. Vladimir Guerrero is 5-for-12 with a home run and five RBIs in three games as the No. 5 hitter in the lineup. He's only 6-for-26 (.231) with a double against Gonzalez, but he'll be batting fifth tonight. I'll keep tabs on tonight's game and assist Steve Melewski in tracking the draft signings. The Orioles will reach agreement with Dylan Bundy shortly before midnight. We'll sweat it out and savor the drama. Joe Jordan, the Orioles' director of scouting, sounded confident yesterday that second-rounder Jason Esposito and sixth-rounder Nick Delmonico also will sign. Esposito has been a source of frustration within the organization. I'd settle for two out of three tonight - and in this series. Reynolds would gladly take a 2-for-3.
