Source: Matt Skole invited to big league spring training

Nationals minor league Player of the Year Matt Skole, who hit 27 homers and 92 RBIs for low Single-A Hagerstown, has been invited to major league spring training, a baseball source has confirmed. The news was first reported by Skole's brother Jake on Twitter. Jake Skole is a Rangers minor leaguer. Matt Skole was promoted to high Single-A Potomac late in the season, where he finished with 12 RBIs and a .314 average in 18 games. Skole played third base for most of the season in the Nats system and then played first base exclusively in the Arizona Fall League, hitting .305 with three homers and 15 RBIs. His versatlity in the field, as Potomac Nationals manager Brian Daubach told me earlier this week, and his raw power will be huge assets for the Nationals as he makes his way up the system.
