Strasburg to make rehab start Wednesday for Triple-A Syracuse

The Nationals are slowly getting injured players back.

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg is closer to returning to the team as he recovers from a left oblique strain suffered July 4. In that start, he went 3 2/3 innings against the Giants, had allowed only one hit and no runs, before leaving the game.

The 27-year-old Strasburg is 5-5 in 13 starts this season with a 5.16 ERA. Following his first disabled list stint this season, Strasburg returned strong with a 1.15 ERA in three starts prior to the oblique injury. Right-hander Joe Ross (2-3) has been starting in his place. Ross went six innings and allowed three runs Sunday in a loss to the Pirates.

Anthony Rendon (quad) returned to the Nationals on Saturday in Pittsburgh. It appears that Ryan Zimmerman (foot) and Jayson Werth (wrist) could be activated from the DL this week as the Nats face the Marlins in Miami beginning Tuesday night.
