Today's postponement delays Wynns' debut (updated)

The Orioles didn't waste any time waiting through the rain this morning, announcing that their game against the Yankees has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a split separate-admission doubleheader on Aug. 25. First pitch for the opener is 1:05 p.m., with the nightcap starting at 7:05 p.m.

Separate admission is required for each game. Tickets and prepaid parking passes for today's postponed game will be honored for the 1:05 p.m. game and don't need to be exchanged.

Fans unable to attend the makeup game can exchange their tickets for any remaining home game this season on a dollar-for-dollar basis. All exchanges are subject to availability and must be completed before Aug. 23. Complimentary tickets are non-exchangeable.

Four of the Orioles' five postponements have come at home. They also have a doubleheader against the Yankees on July 9 and a makeup game against the Phillies on July 12.

Manager Buck Showalter expects to push back his starters this week following Monday's off-day. Alex Cobb would start Tuesday's series opener against the Mets at Citi Field, followed by Dylan Bundy on Wednesday afternoon.

Update: The Orioles confirmed it's Cobb on Tuesday and Bundy on Wednesday.

Austin Wynns will have to put his major league debut on hold after the Orioles summoned him from Triple-A Norfolk. No corresponding move has been announced for Andrew Susac due to the rainout, but Wynns arrived at Camden Yards this morning and set up at his locker with No. 61 on the nameplate.

Tides manager Ron Johnson informed Wynns of the promotion following last night's game.

"When R.J. pulled me aside, it was unreal," said Wynns, who was batting .257/.314/.404 with four doubles, four home runs and 16 RBIs in 32 games.

"I was just like, 'Wow.' Like a dream come true almost. I'm happy to be here. I'm just ready to get it done."

The Orioles placed Wynns, 27, on the 40-man roster in November 2017 after he posted a .377 on-base percentage at Double-A Bowie and convinced team officials that he was ready defensively for a role in the majors.

Caleb Joseph hit a three-run homer last night, but he remains at Norfolk after the Orioles optioned him on May 17. They sent down Susac last night to create a spot for Wynns.

Wynns said he didn't assume that he'd get the next turn to be paired with rookie Chance Sisco.

"I was just going through my day-to-day routine, just performing," he said. "I go day by day and if I get the call, I get the call. It's crazy how it happened. I'm just happy that I'm here."

The Orioles will continue prepping today for the First-Year Player Draft that begins Monday night and runs through Wednesday. They're always poised to take the best available player, whether a pitcher or position player, whether a college or high school talent.

"I love this time of the year and the draft," said director of player development Brian Graham. "I love the opportunity to develop the young high school players like Sisco, (Adrian) Marin, (Ryan) Mountcastle, (Ryan) McKenna, (Seamus) Curran, Adam Hall, Hunter Harvey, (Brian) Gonzalez, (Alex) Wells, (Travis) Seabrooke, DL Hall, (Gray) Fenter and the rest of our young players.

"I also love the process with the college players. The development process with the college draft picks is a little bit different versus the high school players, but it's also a great experience."
