Well, we have a pitchers' duel in Atlanta.
Nationals rookie Blake Treinen and Atlanta starter Alex Wood have each thrown three scoreless innings.
Wood has allowed one hit, a single to Danny Espinosa, and has struck out five.
Treinen has given up three hits and struck out two.
Before the game, manager Matt Williams said Treinen is expected to throw between 60 and 70 pitches. Treinen has thrown 29 pitches through three innings.
Update: Steven Souza Jr. broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning with his first career home run.
The solo shot to center gave the Nats a 1-0 lead.
Souza hit 18 homers in 96 games at Triple-A Syracuse this season.
Update II: Ross Detwiler took over in the sixth inning and ran into some trouble. With the bases loaded, Christian Bethancourt hit a ball that was just off the glove of first baseman Tyler Moore.
The Nats' defense threw the ball around a bit and the Braves were able to score three runs to take a 3-1 lead.
Detwiler faced eight batters in the inning.
Treinen threw five innings, allowed three hits, walk one, struck out three. He threw 55 pitches, 36 for strikes.
Update III: Aaron Barrett took over in the seventh and pitched a scoreless inning. The Nats still trail 3-1 in the eighth and Jerry Blevins on the mound.
Update IV: The Nats faced Braves' closer Craig Kimbrel in the ninth and were retired in order and fell to the Braves 3-1.
Detwiler was charged with the loss and falls to 2-3 on the year.
The Nationals fall to 87-64 on the season. They will begin a series with the Marlins tomorrow in Miami.
