Why? I mean...why? (updated twice)

The Orioles have runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Corey Patterson's at the plate. A fly ball delivers their second run and gives left-hander Brian Matusz a little more room to breathe. So why is Cesar Izturis trying to steal second? Indians catcher is Lou Marson is 2-for-2 in these challenges tonight after cutting down Izturis with a perfect throw. Naturally, Patterson lifted a fly ball to center field, but it resulted in the third out. Were the Orioles trying to stay out of the double play with their fastest runner at the plate? Was Izturis running on his own? I don't get it. Garrett Atkins doubled off the fence in left-center field with one out - perhaps the hardest-hit ball I've seen from him this season. He missed hitting his first home run by a few feet. Izturis followed with a bloop single to right, with Atkins hesitating before going to third. Now Matusz takes the mound in the sixth with that same uncomfortable 1-0 lead. Tonight's attendance: 29,545. Update: Matusz really showed me something in the seventh. He walked the eighth and ninth hitters, and a sac bunt put the go-ahead run in scoring position. Manager Dave Trembley stuck with Matusz as Matt Albers continued to warm in the bullpen, and the rookie retired Mark Grudzielanek on a fly ball near the right field line and Shin-Soo Choo on a grounder to short. Nick Markakis fired a perfect strike to the plate on Grudzielanek's fly ball. No way Lou Marson was challenging him. Matusz scattered seven hits in seven scoreless innings, walked four and struck out six. He threw 107 pitches. It's up to the bullpen to get the last six outs. Update II: Wigginton just hit No. 12, and his second of the night. It didn't travel nearly as far as the first one, but it counts the same. That's 12 multi-homer games in his career.
