Wiggy suspended; will appeal

Ty Wigginton has been suspended three games for his actions in last night's game. He's appealing it and can continue to play until a ruling is passed down from the commissioner's office. The suspension will be announced at 5:30 p.m., but Wigginton and a team official confirmed it. The Orioles will have to play a man short if it's not overturned - one good reason to appeal. Meanwhile, umpire Gary Darling will work behind the plate in tonight's game despite blowing the call that led to the ejections of Wigginton, interim manager Juan Samuel and pitching coach Rick Kranitz, as well as Wigginton's suspension. I had to go there. For thoughts from Wigginton, check out Steve Melewski's post: "Wiggy reacts to his suspension"
