Hey, Orioles fans. Welcome to another installment of Yard Work. In this week's episode ...
It seems obvious that the key to the Orioles' success this season lies in the hands of the Yard Work podcast. After all, scheduling conflicts forced us to miss an episode last week and since then, the Birds have taken a turn for the worse.
In all seriousness, it was a rough end of May for the O's as they find themselves in third place heading into tonight's series opener against the Red Sox. Both the hitting and pitching struggled during that stretch, but is there a common theme ailing them both? Steve Melewski and I will discuss.
While it's a bit in the rearview mirror now, we'll take time to look back at Adam Jones' 125th home run, which he hit back on May 22, and talk about the longball that put Jones atop the list for most home runs hit in Camden Yards history. Jones is a special player and person, for sure, and we'll talk about what he means to the O's clubhouse and Baltimore community.
And as we head into June, voting for the 2017 All-Star Game in Miami is heating up. There are currently several Orioles in the running for starting spots and it's likely we'll see more than a few Birds at the midsummer classic.
Believe it or not, it's almost time for the annual First-Year Player Draft. Orioles fans know Melewski is the expert when it comes to dealings with the Birds' farm system, so what might be in store for the O's on draft day? We'll have a sneak peak into the Draft, plus a whole lot more about the latest on the Orioles.
