Orioles recall Dariel Álvarez from Triple-A Norfolk, place Joey Rickard on disabled list

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled outfielder Dariel Álvarez from Triple-A Norfolk and placed outfielder Joey Rickard on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 21) with a right thumb ligament injury.

Álvarez, 27, batted .280/.315/.382 (104-for-372) with 26 doubles, four home runs, 34 runs scored and 40 RBIs over 93 games this season with Triple-A Norfolk. He walked in his only plate appearance for the Orioles this season. Álvarez hit .241/.290/.370 (7-for-29) over 12 games for the Orioles in 2015.

Rickard, 25, batted .268/.319/.377 (69-for-257) with 13 doubles, five home runs, 32 runs scored and 18 RBIs over 85 games with the Orioles this season.
