Barrett recalled, Cedeno optioned to Triple-A (Espinosa hits second, Rendon cleanup)

As promised, it didn't take too long before Aaron Barrett was brought back from the minors and rejoined the Nationals. Barrett was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse this afternoon, with left-handed reliever Xavier Cedeno being optioned to Syracuse to make room for Barrett on the 25-man roster. The 26-year-old Barrett got off to a great start with the Nats in his first taste of the big leagues, throwing 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks and striking out six. He appeared in six of the team's first 10 games, a few times coming into big situations with the game on the line. Four of those six appearances came with the game tied or only one run separating the Nats from their opponent. He fared well, and got a big strikeout of Giancarlo Stanton in the eighth inning of an April 10 win over the Marlins here at Nats Park. But with the Nats needing fresh relief arms, Barrett was optioned two Saturdays ago. By rule, players that are optioned must spend at least 10 days in the minors before they can be recalled, and with those 10 days now complete, Barrett is back with the Nats. Cedeno threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings yesterday in a loss to the Angels, allowing two hits. Update: With the Nats facing Angels left-hander Tyler Skaggs, manager Matt Williams has shuffled his lineup a bit for tonight's game. Danny Espinosa will hit second, Anthony Rendon will hit cleanup, and Tyler Moore will play first base and hit seventh, with Adam LaRoche getting a day off.
