It's that time of year again to break out the box of tissues: ESPN's annual "My Wish" series returns this week and will feature Nationals right fielder and reigning National League MVP Bryce Harper granting the wish of a local fan battling a serious illness.
On its 10th anniversary, the "My Wish" series on "SportsCenter" will showcase the power of sports wishes that the Make-A-Wish foundation grants. Tomorrow night's 6 p.m. edition of "SportsCenter" will highlight 16-year-old Kaylan's wish to meet Harper. The Gaithersburg native and her family were treated to an unforgettable experience with the Nats outfielder at Nationals Park.
"Make-A-Wish is grateful for Bryce Harper who provided Kaylan and her family with an experience they will always cherish," said president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Laura Caldwell in a statement. "When times are difficult, we hope Kaylan and her family will remember the wish experience and feel a renewed sense of hope and optimism."
Harper joins NBA champion and two-time MVP Steph Curry, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and the 2015 World Cup champion U.S. Women's National Soccer Team in granting wishes in this year's "My Wish" series.
