WEST PALM BEACH, FL - FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, Spring Training home of the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, announced its 2021 Grapefruit League schedule today.
The facility's home opener, which is also the Nationals home opener, will take place on Saturday, February 27, when the club hosts the Astros. The following day, Sunday, February 28, the Astros open their home campaign against the Miami Marlins. Both teams will host 15 home games each throughout the 2021 Grapefruit League season which concludes on Sunday, March 28 when the Nationals take on the St. Louis Cardinals.
Over the course of the 2021 Grapefruit League season, FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will host the Atlanta Braves (one game), Minnesota Twins (one game), New York Yankees (one game), Detroit Tigers (two games), New York Mets (six games), St. Louis Cardinals (six games) and Miami Marlins (seven games). The Nationals and the Astros will face each other six times, with each team hosting three games against their facility partners.
For the first time in 2021, the facility will host two day-night doubleheaders in March. On Saturday, March 13 the New York Mets visit the Nationals, followed by Astros hosting the New York Yankees later the same day. Two weeks later, on Saturday, March 27, the Astros host the Miami Marlins in the afternoon, while the nightcap pits New York Mets against the Nationals.
