Game 156 lineups: Nats vs. Mets

Will the Nationals and Mets play their final head-to-head matchup of the season today? And if not, will they ever play it? That's the pertinent question right now, with the rain coming down all morning and expected to continue all day. Major League Baseball doesn't like canceling games altogether and leaving teams playing fewer than 162 games - the Marlins and Pirates already are scheduled to meet on Oct. 1 for reasons that can only be financial - but given how little is at stake here, you have to wonder if an exception might be made.

Reynolds-Mark-Throws-White-Sidebar.jpgIf they play today, the Nationals will be playing with a different lineup than we've become accustomed to in recent weeks. Victor Robles is leading off and playing left field, with Juan Soto getting an extremely rare day off. Mark Reynolds and Adrian Sanchez will make up the right side of the infield. And Michael A. Taylor is starting a game for only the second time this month, playing center field and batting ninth.

Erick Fedde, meanwhile, is on the mound, and again the key will be whether the young right-hander can sustain success through the fifth inning and beyond. He did it in Philadelphia two starts ago. He didn't do it in Miami last time out.
