NEW YORK - Quick turnarounds are always tough. Quick turnarounds after devastating losses during agonizing seasons are even tougher. But the Nationals have no choice but to come right back to Citi Field for today's 12:10 p.m. series finale, hoping the result will be different than it was last night. And the night before that. And the night before that.
Stephen Strasburg gets the start, and he's been excellent. Over his last six starts, he's got a 2.13 ERA and 0.83 WHIP while averaging more than seven innings per outing. Of course, none of that matters if the Nationals bullpen can't finish things off.
The Nats lineup, meanwhile, gets a chance to face Steven Matz, who has historically struggled against this team. (Though the lefty did toss five scoreless innings against them back on April 6.) Today's lineup includes mostly righties, with Howie Kendrick at first base and batting cleanup, with Juan Soto bumped down to the No. 5 spot.
